BYTES Restaurant Review
Updated: Apr 29
Nestled in the bustling square of college techies, high performing technology buildings, shops, and restaurants, lies a new hidden gem. A play on words fitting for its accompanying environment, BYTES is a new, modern-industrial bar and restaurant in the Midtown area known as ‘Tech Square.’ I’m pleased to have had the pleasure of dining in this spot this past October during one of my job’s team building lunches and my what a delicious treat it was!
Upon my arrival, I was greeted with the upmost courteous staff anxious to greet us and show us to our reserved meeting area. I was far too excited, but a little confused when they led me and stopped right in front of a white wall. Yes, a wall, until a second blink later, the wall slid open to reveal a dimly lit, high-tech, intimate, yet swanky, private dining room. Oh my!
The room is surrounded by large-scale video mapping walls that can project any image you desire that speaks to your target audience. In our case, it was an aerial view of the Georgia Tech campus with our GTRI logo well represented. Menus are accessible on iPads available on each table to swipe through and make selections. The staff was attentive; catering to our every need with lightning speed and expert precision. Seriously. Before we could think to utter a polite request to refill our drinks, done. Right as we took our first bites, extra napkins are already laid. Constant check-ins. Exceptional customer service for sure.
To satisfy our group’s wide taste bud palette, we had pre-ordered several appetizers that included Gruyere Macaroni and Cheese bytes, peach Chipotle chicken wings, deviled eggs topped with Candied bacon, spinach pizzas, and meat-lover’s pizzas topped with sausage, pepperoni, sausage and ham. My favorite, hands down, were the “hot, melt-in-your-mouth” fried macaroni and cheese bytes. I couldn’t get enough. Do you realize how hard it is to maintain food portion control in a professional work setting when the food is just so darn good?! It’s hard! Those macaroni cheese bytes are reason enough for me to go back.
After we had a few moments to digest and watch an awe-inspiring TED talk, we had the opportunity to indulge in some of their sweet and succulent desserts and milkshakes. And if you know me, then you know I’m a sucker for sweets. I ordered their triple chocolate brownie with icecream, although it was a hard tossup between that and their red velvet cake. Both are my absolute favs and BYTES did not disappoint. Others ordered red velvet cake or tried their salted caramel pretzel milkshake.
Between the high-tech atmosphere, remarkable customer service, and delicious food, this is a spot I suggest you run to check out. A benefit to the Georgia Tech and Midtown community that I hope stays for a very long time.
